Discover how Carnival Cruise Line consolidated suppliers, simplified ordering, and gained efficiency across their fleet – from front-of-house to back-of-house.

Carnival Cruise Line operates fully self-sustaining cruise ships – floating cities that generate their own water and power, while serving thousands of guests. Their procurement needs span everything from large-scale food service to individual bespoke cocktails, cleaning supplies to specialist back-of-house items.

"One of the biggest challenges we face is just the sheer scale of what we do – the volumes that we buy in the market, trying to have consistency in terms of spec, and reliability of supply and price," said Jeremy Goodman, Regional Director – Strategic Sourcing & Supply Chain at Carnival Cruise Line.

With a diverse range of products needed across both front-of-house and back-of-house operations, Carnival Cruise Line needed a more flexible way to source key supplies. Critical day-to-day items were sometimes difficult to find through traditional supply chain channels, creating operational pressure on the team.

The Amazon Business partnership with Carnival Cruise Line began in the US, driven by the need for more flexible procurement across a broad product suite. Amazon Business now supports Carnival Cruise Line Australian operations with access to millions of products, seamless integration with Carnival Cruise Line's Oracle solution, automated invoicing, and a streamlined buying experience that empowers ships to source what they need, when they need it.

"Amazon Business really gives us the option to be able to access millions of products. There’s such a diverse range of items that they can support us with, from cleaning supplies to youth supplies – you name it, we probably need it."

"The buying experience really is a key asset and a key benefit to our relationship with Amazon Business. It goes through our Oracle solution and even the invoicing just happens as simply as it needs to. The items get delivered, and everyone can move on with doing what they need to do."

By consolidating purchasing onto a single solution with automated processes, Carnival Cruise Line has freed their supply chain team from chasing small but critical orders – allowing them to focus on higher-value strategic procurement.

"What excites me about Amazon Business is that the days of ships coming to the supply chain team needing support on all those little bits and bobs – which are so critical to their day-to-day, that sometimes we struggle to find in the market – can just be so easily and simply accessed.

"Having that streamlined, simple solution to support our business ultimately really helps us to drive guest satisfaction and crew satisfaction. Amazon Business creates a huge amount of convenience and efficiency for our teams."
